Tuesday 27th July –7pm

Meet at the Conference Centre car park, and we wil be given a conducted tour of the extensive ruins and grounds of the Abbey by a lay Brother. The Abbey of Stanlow in Cheshire moved to Whalley in 1296 – the church was built from 1330 to 1380, but the Abbot’s Lodging and Infirmary were only completed in 1440. At the dissolution of the monastery in 1537 the property was sold to Ralph Assheton, and it remained in private ownership until 1923 when it was acquired by the Church of England.
